- Financial Aid Night
- September 10 Virtual Schedule Overview Webinar
- UHS Welcome Letter & Virtual Schedule
Next Monday, September 21st, is our annual Financial Aid Night, where a representative from PHEAA will be with us to offer an in depth presentation about all things financial aid. The presentation will cover everything from how to get an FSA ID, all the way through to filling out and submitting the FAFSA loan application. She will also talk about grants, scholarships, and other financial information to help you navigate the process with your student.
This year the presentation is digital, and as such we are able to invite all interested families, regardless of the age or your UHS student. There will be valuable information whether you are a family with a senior who is getting ready to start the process for yourselves, or a family with an underclassman who just wants some information to hold on to for the future. (After all, when it comes to financial planning for college, there is no such thing as too early!)

Unionville High School
Good afternoon UHS Families,
I hope that the first day of virtual learning is going well. As far as I can tell this morning, everything seems to be running very smoothly! As you may recall from my communication last week, we will forgo our traditional Back-to-School Night and instead, I have asked the teachers to reach out to all families to discuss their respective syllabi and expectations for each of their classes for the 2020-21 school year. These communications will provide a more personal setting for families to familiarize themselves with their child’s teacher. It is my hope, when safely possible, that we will be able to have an opportunity for families to meet their child’s teacher in a brick and mortar setting.
This Thursday evening, September 10, at 7:00 pm, I would like to offer an opportunity for families to participate in a Zoom webinar to review the virtual learning schedule. Additionally, I will be able to provide you with some information about upcoming events for this month. Traditionally, I send out a monthly Catching “U” Up E-news with updates about upcoming events for each month. While I will still plan to send out monthly information, I also wanted to provide families with an outlet to have a more interactive experience each month about life at UHS. My idea is to have a few topics for us to discuss each month with some opportunities for Questions & Answers. What I have found in the virtual learning model over the past six months, is that it is very helpful to meet virtually to discuss topics and then allow for questions to clear up any misconceptions that may exist. In addition, your feedback allows our administrative team to understand how we can provide a better experience for all families.
Below is the link for our Thursday evening informational session about the Virtual Learning model. I ask that you please pre-register for our meeting so that we will know how many families we can expect to be in attendance.
Thank you for your flexibility during our first week of school. Please keep an eye out for further updates as we grow into our virtual learning model over the next few weeks. If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out to me.
Unionville High School Principal
Dear UHS Students and Parents/Guardians,
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year! On behalf of the entire staff at Unionville High School, it is my great pleasure to officially welcome you back to Unionville High School for our 98th year. We would also like to extend a special greeting to our new students and families to the Unionville High School community.
In just one week, the school year will officially kick off on Tuesday, September 8, with a virtual full-day for all students. There is a great deal of information within the Continuity of Education Plan (UCFSD Health and Safety Plan) that was sent out on Friday afternoon by the district, most importantly regarding the UHS Virtual schedule. Please review this link to review the high school virtual schedule and all other pertinent information.
Attached to this email, you will find the UHS presentation from the Curriculum and Instruction Meeting on August 10. In addition, you may also refer to a voice over description of the schedule (Blue & Gold Schedule) that will provide further details about the Virtual schedule (Virtual Schedule Explained).
On September 8th and 9th, our administrative team will be meeting with students in grades 9-12, during the first two days of school, to discuss the schedule. We have also shared the slides and the voice over with all students to review prior to their respective class meetings next week.
If you are interested, please plan to join us for further discussion about the UHS Virtual schedule and the beginning of the school year on Thursday, September 10 from 7:00-8:00 PM. Here is the Zoom link for you to join us: (Virtual Schedule Zoom Room).
If you would like to join via Telephone, please call: 1 929 205 6099

In an effort to keep communication current while we are in a virtual model, we hope to host bimonthly zoom meetings to address timely topics and answer any questions families and students may have. Dates, times, and topics of discussion will be shared with you as they become available.
Teacher Introduction Videos
Due to our virtual return to school, our traditional Back-to-School night scheduled for September 10 will not happen. Each of your child’s teachers is preparing an introductory video that will be shared with students next week.
9th Grade SHOC and New Student Orientation Night
9th Grade SHOC and New Student Orientation Night will be held tomorrow night from 5-7PM, outdoors at UHS. A virtual event will be held on Wednesday, September 2, from 2-3 PM. Event information was shared with all 9th grade students, new students, and parents/ guardians last week. Given tomorrow’s forecast, we will monitor Tuesday’s weather and make a determination by 3:30 PM. We will use student email and school messenger if we need to postpone the event.
Textbook and Materials Distribution Information
As a reminder, textbook and materials distribution will take place on Wednesday, September 2nd for 9th and 10th grade students and on Thursday, September 3rd for 11th and 12th grade students. Make up days will be Friday, September 4th in the morning and September 8th and 9th during the school day. Please refer to the two emails sent by Mr. Silva on August 26th for specific times and details.
In closing, on behalf of the entire Unionville High School family, it is our privilege to serve both parents and students to provide the best possible educational experience. If you have a question, comment, or a concern, please do not hesitate to contact me. We are all looking forward to a wonderful 2020-2021 school year!
