Bullying Prevention
The Board prohibits bullying by District students in a school setting or outside a school setting, as defined in Policy No. 249.
The Board is committed to providing a safe, positive educational experience for District students. The Board recognizes that bullying creates an atmosphere of fear and intimidation, detracts from the environment necessary for student learning, and creates the possibility of additional serious incidents.
The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program
Our district cares about the safety and well-being of our students and we want to make sure our schools are a good place for students to learn. We employ the Olweus Bullying Prevention Program in grades K-8
The Olweus Bullying Prevention Program is one of the best-known bullying prevention programs and is proven to prevent or reduce bullying in schools. The goals of the program are to reduce bullying and prevent new bullying problems from happening. The program also works to make relationships better among students. The program is for all students, not just those who are being bullied or who are bullying others.
Bullying Policy
Policy 249 (in BoardDocs) provides definitions of bullying and administrative guidelines for reporting, investigating and disciplining acts of bullying.
