Values & Standards

During the 2018-2019 school year, UCFSD welcomed New York Times Best-Selling Author John O’Sullivan to our community. He challenged our athletics community to create a culture around a shared set of values and standards, as opposed to rules. A committee worked with our community to do just that. Since, our athletes, staff, and community have embraced these values and standards in many different ways.

To empower each student to succeed in life and contribute to society.

Athletics Belief Statement

Built on a foundation of core values, our program is full of opportunities and life-lessons that promote success in athletics, academics, and in future endeavors.

We expect all athletes, parents, and coaches to abide by and/or support the high values and standards that we have established for our athletic program.

Athletes, parents, and coaches of the UCFSD community shall:

  • Put the physical, mental, and emotional well-being of the student-athletes at the core of every decision,
  • Demonstrate high character and sportsmanship towards officials, contestants, teams, and spectators,
  • Adhere to all team and school rules/policies,
  • Honor the commitment that you have made to the team,
  • Practice and compete in a way that reflects our core values,
  • Communicate effectively and appropriately,
  • Give your best effort in everything you do,
  • Put team before self,
  • Recognize and support the contributions of all,
  • Celebrate a climate of mutual respect and diversity,
  • Be responsible for our actions,
  • Recognize everyone's right to a positive experience regardless of the outcome, and
  • Remember that actions and behaviors on and off the field are a reflection of UCFSD.
