On behalf of the Unionville High School PTO, welcome back to a new school year! We hope
you all had an enjoyable summer and are looking forward to a productive year at Unionville
High School.
In an effort to reduce PTO mailing expenses, this year we are trying something different.
Rather than mailing you a separate PTO Summer Mailing, we are partnering with the High
School to include two important PTO forms in this mailing; (1) PTO
Membership Form and (2) UCFSD Directory Order Form. Please take a moment to complete
these forms and mail them in. These forms and all other PTO information and forms including
the PTO
Calendar At A Glance, UHS Notes to Schools (Bus Notes), The Bridge Subscription, PSAT/SAT/ACT
Practice Test Registration forms will be included on the PTO
website.

Our various PTO fundraisers were once again quite successful, allowing us to fund over
$40,000 in grants for teachers and staff during the 2009/10 school year. The purpose of
these grants is to enhance the educational experience of all UHS students. Please support
our fundraisers. The Annual PTO Art Gala will be held on November
12th and Saturday, November 13th. The work of many artists are on displayed and for sale to the public, as well as
the amazing work of several talented UHS students. Our major fundraiser, the
Used Book Sale is scheduled for Friday, February 25th and Saturday, February 26th. Our PTO Membership
Drive also contributes to our fundraising efforts, so please be sure to send in your PTO
Membership Form.
The PTO After Prom Committee coordinates and raises money for the annual After Prom event.
This committee is historically run by the parents of our junior students. The After Prom
is a safe, alcohol-free event for all UHS juniors and seniors and their prom dates, full
of entertainment, games and food. All UHS junior and senior students are encouraged to
attend regardless of whether or not they attend the prom. If you are interested in seeing
this tradition continue, we need your help. Please attend the After
Prom Organizational Meeting on Tuesday, September 21st at 7pm. (location TBD). Hundreds of volunteers are needed
to ensure this event is a success. Please help keep this long standing tradition continue
by coming to this meeting and helping out.
The UHS PTO has 2 major communication vehicles, (1) The Bridge PTO newsletter) and (2)
UHS E-News. The PTO Newsletter will be published on-line monthly throughout the school
with the exception of November and April. The UHS e-News is an e-mail program which provides
school specific bulletins and updates on a regular basis about the many things happening
at UHS. You can subscribe to the PTO sponsored electronic news service via the District
website, Follow the instructions from there
to subscribe to UHSeNews ListServ.
Every UHS student must have a new Student ID each year. Student ID photos are taken at
the same time as the school photos. All students must have a picture taken for their ID
regardless of whether or not they wish a school photo. Pictures
will be taken on Wednesday, September 15th.
Finally, the UHS PTO is only as strong as our members. Please join us for our first PTO
meeting on Tuesday, September 7th in the HS Library. We look forward to meeting you!
