The following are suggested items and info for you to remember regarding our 2000 trip to Virginia Beach, VA.

1. Luggage- All luggage is to be dropped off between 7 am- 7:30 am on Friday April 28th in the drop off area in front of the school. Place you luggage next to the sign for your bus for loading.

Students are allowed 1 piece of luggage for under the bus and 1 carry-on bag (in addition to your instruments and uniforms). We are going to need to put many instruments under each bus, so please don't bring the largest piece of luggage that you can find.

2. Uniforms- please bring a travel iron if you have one to make the uniforms look untraveled!!

A.Band Uniform- In Garment Bag. Shoes go in your garment bag. Hat box goes on the bus with you up in the luggage racks.

B.Jazz Uniform- In Garment Bag (hang-up shirt & pants). Vests & Collars will be brought and passed out that day. (black socks please!)

C.Choir Outfit- Black pants or skirts. Guys wear white shirts with dark ties, girls wear white blouse. Dress shoes for all.

3. Instruments and Equipment- All instruments will be placed on the bus. Please bring some blankets to help pack the more fragile ones. The double bass will be placed inside the bus on some extra seats. All other equipment/Instruments will be placed under the bus in the rear luggage bay. Flutes and clarinets must go inside the bus in luggage racks or suitcases.

4. Toilet gear- Bring everything you will need. Tooth brush, toothpaste, shavers (for those who need them or think they need them), comb, brush, deodorant, etc. Roommates should decide who is bringing the hair dryers and curling irons. Only one needed per room. The hotel supplies some amenities, but bring your own supply just in case.

5. Other gear- Suggestions- sunscreen, clothing for 3-4 days, sneakers, bathing suits, sun glasses, camera, travel clock, pajamas, robe, lightweight jacket, shorts, jeans, plenty of underwear, bag for dirty clothes, walk man (no boom boxes will be allowed on bus or in rooms, no exceptions!!!) They will be taken and left at school or put in a chaperones room if found.

6. Purses- Should be kept on busses (with no money in them) when you are performing. Do not ask chaperones to hold your purse- they do not have enough hands. Be careful!!!

7. Telephone calls and Pay TV-Use pay phones in the lobby for calls home. The room phones will be shut off for outside calls. Use of the pay TV in the hotel rooms is not permitted. They will be turned off from the desk.

8. Petty Cash- $50.00-$75.00 is suggested depending on the individual. Some meals are provided during the trip and the rest you will need to plan for. Lunch & dinner on the performance day should not be very expensive. There will be souvenirs available at the places where we stop.

9. Name Tags- You will be given four (4) tags for your instrument, suitcase, and a carry-on bag. Please tag all pieces of your luggage. See bus chaperones or Mr. L or Mr. Wood for extra tags. Please make sure that all school equipment is tagged and marked. Please put a slip of paper inside of your own case to ID your instruments

10. Room & Bus Assignments- No changes will be permitted on either list during the trip.

14. Transportation- 3 Charter Buses - Johnson Bus Company

15. Return Phone Chain- We will only call the phone chain when we are @ 1 hour outside of Unionville HS for pick up only if we are running off schedule.

16. Student pick-up- Please do not block the small parking lot in front of the Music Area. Our buses will be pulling in there to unload the luggage & equipment closer to the school. All students must help unload the buses upon arrival before leaving for home!!!

17. Behavior- Listed are student Guidelines of behavior. Any discipline that has to be taken will be followed up with the principals when we return to school. The chaperones are to be treated with respect and have the right to discipline as a teacher would in school. Please use common sense when it comes to behavior and actions during this trip. If anything you do is not good for our school, don't do it!!!!!

Guidelines of Behavior

1.     No smoking at anytime during the trip.
2.     No drinking or possession of alcoholic beverages.
3.     No possession or use of any narcotic drugs. (re: marijuana, pills, etc.). Medication prescribed by doctors must be 
         registered with our nurse prior to leaving.
4.     No use or possession of any fireworks, water balloons, etc, or any other device which may be injurious to your health.
5.     Attendance is required for all scheduled activities while on the trip.
6.     Girls and Boys are not permitted in each others' rooms at any time during the trip. No exceptions.
7.     Students are not permitted to drive any kind of motor vehicle while on the trip.
8.     Students are reminded that all regulations set forth for school are in effect during this trip.  See school handbook

9.      There is no excuse for misconduct of any kind during this trip.
10.    Conduct should be such as not to embarrass students or the total unit, school, or community.
11.    Infractions of rules set forth for this trip will result in the student being sent home or your parents picking you up, 
         at your expense!!!
