iPods in World Language Classrooms

Thanks to a generous grant from our PTO, students now have iPods to record their language activities. Mrs. Hawkes Spanish classes were the first to try them out. Student response to the technology was tremendous. A few of the comments from students were: "These are for us to use?" "How cool!" "Awesome!" "I felt really comfortable in talking into the iPod since I use my personal iPod daily" and "I really feel like I am now in the 21st Century in school." The recordings will be used for classroom evaluation and they will be available on teacher webpages for students to listen to themselves as well as other students. Mrs. Hawkes was amazed that the students spent on the average of 4 times longer talking into the iPods than when they used the cassette recorders.

Thank you PTO for supporting us and providing us with the technology to enhance our teaching and learning.
