TESTING:
SAT REASONING:
Scholastic Assessment Test - for college admission, verbal, math and writing sections, required by many colleges and nursing schools, given 7 times a year, Oct, Nov, Dec, Jan, March, May, June-- recommended fall of senior year and spring of junior year.

SAT TESTS: One-hour test over 15 subject areas, 1, 2, or 3 tests may be taken on the same day. They are used for placement at appropriate college level, to test knowledge of subject areas, required by some colleges in addition to the SAT Reasoning Test.

ACT: American College Test - for college admission, English Usage, Reading, Math, and Science Reasoning, required by some colleges instead of the SAT, accepted by most colleges as an alternative to SAT, given 6 times a year, in Sept, Oct, Dec, Feb, April, June, recommended for spring of junior year.

PSAT: aka the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) The 2008-2009 PSAT test will be given on October 18, 2008 at UHS. This is designed for 11th graders to experience the type of questions they will encounter when they take the SAT in the spring. It also qualifies juniors for National Merit Scholarships.

PLAN TEST: This is the pre-test for the ACT. It is designed for sophomores. Look for announcements next year.
