Meeting Minutes Jan 5, 2010

The meeting was called to order at 7:00 PM. In attendance were: Linda Bowen, Lori Joseph, Katy Donovan, Eileen Bushelow, Joanne Bates, Heidi Brown, Linda Fisher, Lele Galer, Robin Kitay, Holly Manzone, Audrey O’Connor Mason, Lisa Boyle, Diane Mecklin, Donna Perri, Joyce Phillips, Leah Gower, Patsy Keller, Doug Keller, Kathy Adams, Megan Minella, Kathy Takoushian, Rekha Doraiswamy, Carrie Kleinjan, Frank Deady, John Sanville

Minutes: The Dec. meeting minutes were reviewed, a motion was made to approve the Minutes; the motion was seconded and passed.

Treasurer’s Report: Linda Fisher went over the budget. The Art Gala came in approximately $1877 over budget. The check for $500 from school photos came in. There was $1000 of community service expenses.

Guidance Report: The PSAT results were received and distributed in December over 2 nites. Next year, the counseling center will only offer 1 nite to discuss the results. Next year’s junior’s will have already taken the tests and receive the results so the evening discussion will be focused on next year’s sophomores. Letters about junior conference will go out this month. The conferences will take 45-60 minutes each. Jan. 27-29 the counselors will be going into English classes to answer questions about classes for next year. All seniors should check to see it colleges want mid-year reports. Some dates are: Feb. 1 Financial Aid night, Feb. 4 Course Selection nite – open to everyone, Feb. 8 College planning nite.

Principal’s Report: Paula Massanari was away in the Caribbean so there was no principal’s report.

Teacher Rep Report: There was no teacher rep.

Student Council Representative’s Report: There was no student council report.

Presidents Report: Joanne Bates thanked Katy Donovan and Heidi Brown for the Alumini reception, Barb LaChance,Linda Fisher and Linda Riondet for the coat and bike drive, Lori Joseph for projects, Reka Doraiswamy for ENews, Tracy Hyde for the web site and the Bridge, Hannah Christopher for membership and Eileen Bushelow for her service as PTO president. The bylaws were reviewed 2 years ago and should be done every 2-3 years. Thus the PTO is looking to form a committee to do this.

Vice Presidents Report: Heidi Brown reported that the Alumni Reception held on December 23 went well. Approximately 65-70 kids attended. All alumni are invited to attend but invitations only go to the most recent alumni. A mailing will go out soon for the community scholarship

Committee Reports:
After Prom: Joanne Bates reported that the after prom fashion show will be on Jan 29. Also, the steering committee is gearing up.
Projects: There are 33 requests for $40,000. The meeting to vote on these projects is on January 12.
Practice Tests: There is another round of practice tests at UHS on Jan 9. The snow date is Jan 16. There is a form in the Bridge and the last day to sign up is Jan. 6.
School Board: Holly Manzone reported that there were 3 committee meetings on Jan 4.

Used Book Sale: Leah Gower reported that there will be sorting on Saturday’s (1/30, 2/6 & 2/20) from 9-5 as well as on Tues and Thurs. New Business:

John Sanville gave a presentation on AP classes. The presentation is on the school’s web site.
